Pre-Rally Tours / Activities

2019 North American Heartland Owners Rally – Goshen

Pre-Rally Tours and Activities

We are holding a 7-day Pre-Rally (June 3rd – June 9th) for those who can come to Goshen early.  Rally attendees will be able to sign up for the Pre-Rally and Pre-Rally Tours and Activities at the same time they register for the Rally.

You do not need to commit to all 7 days of the Pre-Rally.  You’ll choose your Pre-Rally arrival date during the registration process.

Pre-Rally is a great time to arrive, get settled into your site, meet your neighbors, check out the area, and take in some of the planned, optional Pre-Rally Tours and Activities.  If you plan to take in any of the Technical or Lifestyle presentations during the rally, you will definitely want to arrive at least 1-day prior to the start of the Rally as Rally activities begin first thing Tuesday morning, June 10th.

Pre-Rally Dates: Monday, June 3 through Sunday, June 9.

The Amish Countryside, South Bend and Quilting tours are all-inclusive (only where applicable: bus transportation, coordinator or step-on tour guide, entrance fees, lunch etc.)

REGISTRATION AND TICKETS
Each tour / activity will be priced “Per Person”.  Advance registration and payment using the rally registration system will be required.  Rally attendees will be able to register for pre-rally tours and activities during the “rally registration process”.

TOUR CANCELLATION / REFUND STATEMENT
As we will be paying in advance for tour buses, tour guides and in some cases, admission for ticketed events, NO REFUNDS will be issued for these tours. If your plans change such that you cannot attended a Pre-Rally tour that you’ve registered and paid for, we encourage you to gift this to another rally attendee.  Give them your tour tickets and let Club Manager, Julie Hancock (email link) know the names of the people who will be taking your place.

“On Your Own” – Activity Planning Resources

In addition to all 7 Pre-Rally days, we will have some “open periods” during the rally to afford rally attendees more opportunities to “do their own thing” without having to miss any Rally items.

Some sights and activities in and around Elkhart County require advance planning and tickets, while others require no planning and are free.  Below are a couple of resources to consider when planning your non-rally activities.

Rally sites

Siting Plan Statement
The rally venue, the Elkhart County 4H Fairgrounds is a facility setup to serve the 4H community throughout the year and to host the county fair each July. As such, there’s a variety of buildings, animal pens, animal shelters, animal exercise areas, racetrack, stage and grand stand on property.

Additionally, this venue offers camping. Camping areas are in various locations throughout the property. In most cases, camping areas are setup such that the entire space can be used for multi-purpose use. This means that often times, camping areas are used for non-camping activities. You’ll notice right away that all camping utilities are set at the back of the sites, thereby facilitating mixed use of these areas.

Each camping area has a name or has been named by rally staff. We have two documents to assist attendees in better understanding the camping areas and choosing an area to stay in during the rally:

“General” Campsite / Camp Area Information document

“Specific” Campsite / Camp Area Information document

As we’ve done in past years at this venue, we’re using an area/site selection process where each attendee chooses their own area and in small number of cases, their own site.  Once an area is full or a specific site is chosen, that area or site are no longer available to other attendees.

In some cases, in order to not lose even a single full-hookup site, we need to park attendees in certain sites within the area the attendee has chosen – first. Not doing so will cause the loss of a number of sites and it’s our goal to get as many attendees as possible, onto full-hookup sites.

For attendees wanting to be grouped together, this is only possible if all attendees chose the same area (Northwest not included) and where all parties in that group arrive at the venue together. While we cannot guarantee it, this will best assure you’ll be sited as near one another as possible.
